Overview

Puppy & Purr is a mobile extension of Paw & Purr, a premium pet-sitting brand known for its deeply personal care. Cynthia A., the founder, has over 15 years of experience and treats all animals "like her kids." The app was designed to streamline bookings, improve sitter–client communication, and elevate the overall brand experience.The mobile experience needed to reflect Cynthia’s values—love, trust, and dependability—while delivering convenience and operational efficiency for pet parents on the go. Our approach focused on creating a user-centric, mobile-first experience that maintains warmth while delivering functionality at a competitive level.

Problem

Cynthia had built a loyal client base through third-party platforms and her newly launched website, but growth was limited by operational bottlenecks and a lack of automation

  1. Manual Workflows: Bookings and updates were done manually via phone, email, or text, leaving room for human error and time loss.(SOPs).

  2. Scattered Communication: Clients would reach out across multiple channels, causing confusion and missed messages.

  3. No On-the-Go Functionality: The desktop experience didn’t translate well to the real-time needs of mobile-first users (e.g., checking on pets, booking quickly, receiving visit updates).

  4. Scaling Concerns: Without an app, Cynthia couldn’t compete with local pet-sitting businesses offering more tech-savvy services.

We designed a feature-rich, emotionally resonant mobile app that blends thoughtful UX with elegant, friendly UI. Key decisions were made around user flows, brand voice, and usability for both tech-savvy and first-time users.

UX Design Highlights

  • Pet Parent Dashboard: A hub to manage pets, view services, and get real-time updates.

  • Streamlined Booking Flow:3-tap journey to schedule care, add notes, and get confirmation.

  • Pet Profiles: Upload care instructions, allergies, vet contacts, and favorite toys.

  • In-App Messaging: Direct communication with sitters, with media sharing and push notifications.

  • Visit Tracking: Sitters check in/out via GPS, log activity, and share photo updates.

UI & Accessibility

  • Typography: Quicksand (headings) + Lato (body) for readability and friendliness.

  • Navigation: Bottom tab bar for simplicity, accessible with one hand.

  • Dark Mode Support and VoiceOver compatibility: for inclusive design.

Efficiency Gains 40% reduction in booking-related texts and calls within the first month. Sitters reported easier check-ins and client updates, reducing admin time.
